Redevelopment Update from the headteacher

6th December 2018

Dear Parent/Carers,

Re: Redevelopment of Barlby Primary School

Please find a letter overleaf outlining the planned highways work on Barlby Road and Exmoor Street from Monday 10th December. There are likely to be delays and some disruption outside school in the last two weeks of term. We are working with the council to ensure that everyone stays safe. The zebra crossing remains operational throughout the works.

There will also be changes to play space next term. Hoarding is scheduled to be erected on the staff inset day (7th January) to minimise disruption to learning. The hoarding will separate the school from the building site and the school will continue to operate with all classes in their current locations. Drop off and collection points are also unchanged.

The children will play in new timetabled zones next term. The area to the front of the school has been developed to accommodate play and combined with the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) and current KS1 playground the children have enough space to play in key stages. Our youngest children in EYFS will continue to access their own outdoor space. We are confident that we will not need to make any changes to timetabling or the school day as we have already had a trial break time with the whole school outside.

As you would expect, emergency procedures are being revised to reflect the changes to the school site. Evacuation plans and fire safety is being reviewed ahead of the build. I will send regular updates home via letter and occasionally post on social media. There is also a section on the school website to share plans and developments or alternatively you could view the plans on the council website. Thank you for your support throughout the planning stages and I look forward to working in partnership with you as our brand new building goes up. There are exciting times ahead!

Yours sincerely,
